Meal prep Monday and bowls of Cheerios
There’s nothing like walking into Monday with your meals prepped and ready to go for the week. Or in my case, at least half the week. It keeps me on track for the meals I take to work every day. I am eating five-six meals a day depending on the day. The goal is six, but I don’t always succeed though.
Some days I don’t feel like eating as many meals as I am supposed to and other days I just don’t care. I am in a weird spot as my “improvement season” continues. There are more than six months before I get back on stage. And while I have a date, it is so far off that I feel lost as my body is not as lean as it has been for the past several months and I don’t feel like I am progressing.
Meals for the week
It’s a shrimp and chicken week. Easy breezy and didn’t take much time to knock out meal prep. I line up the containers, especially the new ones I bought because some of my others had seen better days, and get things going.
My go to meal has been this shrimp cauliflower rice foil packets. I know a lot of people make foil packets on the grill, but I have been making these in the oven.
This week’s chicken was simple too. It’s a pesto chicken dish served with vegetables and quinoa.
I also made a quick maple brown sugar chicken with sweet potatoes and vegetables for one of my clients. For me, there will be some chicken burrito bowls in the mix at some point too. They are easy, quick and relatively clean.
All about bowls of Cheerios
One of the many things I do not get to eat during prep is cereal. Bowls of Cheerios for breakfast or even a snack sounds like heaven. I am a huge granola person but also love Honey Nut Cheerios and Frosted Flakes. Seriously!
I decided to try the Pumpkin Spice Cheerios because it is a seasonal item. My thoughts…ehhh! I could live without them.
I am not sure what I was expecting. There is a spice to them for sure. Pumpkin Spice Cheerios don’t taste like cinnamon. The flavor reminds me of nutmeg. It definitely is not the honey or brown sugar sweetness that one might think. Pumpkin Spice Cheerios are pumpkin spice Cheerios. There also is some clove, cinnamon and ginger combination mixed in there.
After one bowl, I went back to the store and bought old faithful, Honey Nut Cheerios. You can never go wrong with this. I always want more even if you are not hungry anymore. And if you love them and you eat a lot you will always have to go out and buy a new box.
I haven’t had Frosted Flakes since I’ve been off of prep. I have about another month before I cut milk from my diet on a regular basis so it might happen. Bowls of Cheerios will stick around though. I do know that I will also need to have a few more peanut butter and jelly sandwiches with a nice cold glass of milk or two.
Have you tried a pumpkin or special seasonal item?
