Low-carb chicken nuggets recipe

Chicken nuggets are one of kid’s favorite dishes. But do they have to only be for kids? Here’s a simple and easy air fryer low carb chicken nuggets recipe that only requires three ingredients.

Ditch the nuggets you get from fast food restaurants and the frozen chicken nuggets from grocery stores by making them at home,

Making homemade nuggets may sound time-consuming, but it isn’t, especially if you make these nuggets from ground chicken. This easy recipe takes less than 20 minutes from start to finish.

What are these chicken nuggets made of?

Traditionally the crispy chicken nuggets you get from the store or a supermarket are made from breast meat. These, however, are made with ground chicken and packed with flavor.

The nuggets are juicy on the inside and covered in a super crispy cornflake coating.

They will make for a delicious low-carb snack, appetizer or dinner that the entire family can enjoy.

Ingredients you’ll need

To get started making this recipe, you’ll first want to gather all your ingredients first.

Here is what you’ll need:

  • Ground chicken
  • Corn flakes
  • Large egg
  • Seasonings (onion powder, garlic powder, paprika, salt and black pepper)

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Place ground chicken in a large bowl.

Step 2: Beat egg in a separate bowl. Add it to ground chicken. Add the seasonings to your liking.

Step 3: Combine the chicken mixture thoroughly. Set to side.

Step 4: Place corn flakes in a ziploc bag and beat to make smaller pieces for the coating.

Step 5: Add seasonings to give the coating additional flavor. Shake.

Step 6: Pour the cornflakes mixture into a shallow bowl or plate. Form the chicken mixture into small nugget shape or chicken fingers. Place in the bowl with cornflakes mixture to give it a coating on both sides.

Step 7: Set aside on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.

Step 8: Cook in air fryer at 400 degrees for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown. You do not need to flip them.

How to store leftovers

Store your nuggets in an airtight container or large sealable bag for 1-2 days in the fridge.

To reheat your nuggets without sacrificing crispiness, I suggest using the oven. Preheat your oven to 450F. Line the nuggets on a baking sheet and bake them for 5 minutes, then flip and bake for another 2-3 minutes.
