Easy Christmas popcorn recipe

During the holidays one of my favorite holiday snacks is Christmas popcorn. This Christmas popcorn recipe is a festive holiday treat and easy to prepare.

The holiday popcorn recipe is a great combination of sweet and savory tastes which makes for holiday parties or a family snack during a Christmas movie night.

The M&Ms and red and green festive sprinkles mixed into a popcorn mixture makes for a chocolate-coated salty popcorn delicious treat.

What you need:

Popcorn – Make fresh popcorn at home, it’s inexpensive, fresh and better to use. You can air pop, stove pop or microwave pop.

Vanilla candy melts – Wilton candy melts are perfect for this recipe, white chocolate bark will work too.

Pretzels – You can use tiny pretzels or regular sized that you break up into smaller pieces.

Red and green M&M’s candies – Holiday M&Ms come in red and green. If you celebrate Hanukkah, there are blue and white holiday M&Ms you can buy.

How to make festive Christmas popcorn

Start off with a batch of homemade popcorn. You can use an air popper, pop them on the stove or microwave popcorn.

Pour into a large bowl and remove any un-popped kernels.

Toss in broken pretzel pieces and M&Ms. Set some aside to sprinkle on at the end.

Melt candy melts in a microwave safe bowl on 50% power in 30 second intervals, stirring after each interval until melted and smooth.

Drizzle half of the melted chips over the popcorn mixture, then stir, tossing gently a few times with a spatula.

Then drizzle the remaining half of the melted chips over the popcorn.

Gently stir the mixture until evenly coated.

Pour mixture into a single layer onto a parchment paper-lined cookie sheet. Sprinkle entire mixture evenly with sprinkles before the vanilla chips set.

Allow to cool and harden, then gently break into pieces and store in an airtight container.
