Do you hate cardio workouts too?

Why do cardio workouts like running or stairmaster get so much hate? Seriously? It’s like people rag on having to knock out cardio regardless if you take it outdoors, hit the treadmill, elliptical machine or knock out a HIIT workout.

I like cardio. Let me run, sprint or use the Arc Trainer and I am good to go. I only have 25-30 minutes of cardio to do daily since I temporarily hung up my half marathon training. For me, the time goes by quickly unless I’m sore as all get out. Then it doesn’t matter how many minutes it is I just want to run and hide.

Is it mental or physical?

I think cardio effort depends on how you are feeling and what space you are in.

I don’t mind cardio on most days. My coach likes to call me a cardio bunny. However, I have my days especially when my legs are sore.

Lindsay, in one of the fitness groups I am in said, “It’s boring and I get zero satisfaction from it.
Picking up heavy shit = instant gratification. Lol”

Cardio workouts: indoors or outdoors?

running hill repeats outdoors

Does it make a difference your workout routine is indoors or outdoors? I know it makes a difference for me. I prefer taking it outdoors especially during the South Carolina spring through fall season so that I can run and run; hill repeats, intervals or a steady pace have a place in my running.

Price said, “Good question! I think most people do it on a stationary apparatus! They have a small TV screen or just stare out into space. Get outside! Run Sprints, run bleachers, crawl, find a place where you can ride a bike in safety for an hour!”

Jennifer said, “I hate the treadmill maybe it’s because I feel like a hamster on those wheels and not going anywhere lol I can’t do it… but I do love the stair master and I love sprints and stadiums.”

Jordan said, “I find it boring. I love going for walks and doing cardio outside where I can take in my surroundings…but its monotonous and repetitive on a machine in the gym.”

Love or hate them?

I am more of a love them kind of girl. I don’t always look forward to them, but don’t hate them at all. You can mix up your workouts so it’s not the same monotonous types of workouts. You don’t even have to use the same equipment each time.

You can elevate your heart rate with a jump rope or even jumping jacks.

When you are out for a run or walking, listen to your favorite music or app, like RockMyRun. If you get on a treadmill or spin bike, you can watch Netflix, Hulu or some other streaming service. I find a series to watch. I am going to watch Nikita on Netflix for now.

Music, movies and TV shows are great distractions. Find what works for you and make it more enjoyable.

I’m envious! I just don’t have the time to fit in workouts but know I should.

I definitely hate cardio! I am always looking for more “fun” ways to implement it in my routine! HIIT has been my go-to lately to keep me from getting bored!

I use my treadmill when I can, but I know I need to do more. You have great motivation!
