Painting with a Twist: Slay your booties

Over the weekend, I attended a Painting with a Twist party with my line sisters as we celebrated our first sorority anniversary or AKAversary as it is commonly referred.

Last December, the 18 Illustrious Ivies of Evolution became members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Since then we have been working, volunteering and giving back to our community.

Attended Painting with a Twist with line sisters to celebrate our sorority anniversary. But this weekend was just for us to get together and have a good time. We kicked it off by bringing out our own inner Ellis Wilson.

Painting with a Twist

My Painting with a Twist painting of Slay your bootiesFor those of you who haven’t done a Painting with a Twist party, it’s a studio where you bring your own wine and under the guidance of an instructor, paint a painting.

You walk into the studio, the easels are set up with blank canvases and the featured selection is in the front of the room. You sit down in front of an easel. By the end of the party, the blank canvas will be transformed to the featured selection.

There is laughing and smiling occurring around you and glasses of wine being consumed.

Painting with my sisters

Painting with a Twist girls night outPainting with a Twist was special because it was one way we celebrated our sorority anniversary. It’s sort of wild to think that it’s been a year already.

The painting was supposed to be traditional Santa, but because we are AKAs, we added a little personal flair. We nixed the red for pink and green.

We individualized our paintings at Painting with a twist. There is no right or wrong. Each person added pink and green however we liked. Some of us changed the color of the pants legs, boots or the fluff above the boots.

I am definitely already thinking about going back for another painting that was on the wall. It fits in with the theme, but it would also look good on my wall in my living room. I have just the spot for it. This is a fun night with girlfriends on any occasion. Find a local studio and have a great time.

Have you ever done a paint night with friends?
