It’s been a little more than a week since I stepped on the Masters Nationals stage in Pittsburgh. It was my first national show and I am still floating.
Show day is like no other for me. Usually, I am all freaked out when it comes to stepping on stage. Not this time. I spent a lot of time leading up to this show working on my stage presence so that I wouldn’t have that again. Although I still have some work to do, I give myself a B.
Bikini ladies rock
One of my favorite parts about show day are the ladies I meet as we wait to get on stage.
We come from so many different walks of life. For this show, we came from around the country.
For this show, I only personally knew one athlete, Adrienne. We met a year ago at a show in South Carolina and have kept in touch since then.
But I also was looking forward to meeting some of my Instagram “friends.” There are a few people that I knew I wanted to meet especially Jade. But in addition to Jade, I got to meet quite a few others where we both were like, “aren’t you” so and so.
I loved my look and my makeup. I had the opportunity to have a Get Flawless face and it was worth it. My makeup artist, Stenza, gave me one of my favorite show faces to date.
The trip there and back
Getting to and from Pittsburgh for the Masters Nationals stage was an ordeal with delayed and canceled flights.
I started out in my local airport but after a delay and my flight being canceled, I got someone to take me to my apartment so I could drive myself to Charlotte to catch an afternoon flight. I wanted to get there and get relaxed.
Coming back turned out to be more of the same. Delayed flights in Pittsburgh turned into a late canceled flight, leaving me stranded for a night.
Instead of going home to NJ for the weekend, I took that as a sign that I needed to get back south as quickly as possible. I got a direct flight back to Charlotte and stayed in my apartment almost all weekend.
Ice cream, brownies, burgers and anything I craved was on tap for my tastebuds. Heck, Sunday was National Ice Cream Day. I had to enjoy it like everyone else.
The next show
The countdown continues until the next show. My goal is to step back on stage September 7 at the NPC Southern Tournament of Champions. It’s basically a local show, which means little to no travel. If I am not ready, the next show I am interested in is September 28 at the NPC Daytona Beach Classic.
We shall see how things progress over the next four weeks. My goal is to make a decision by August 24. That is exactly two weeks out from September 7.
