Posing is a big component of show day.
It’s not my favorite thing to do but I have been practicing my tail off. I even added a posing coach back into the mix this year.
We are just days out and I am posing more now than ever.
And then I basically repeat the process all over again.
Posing looks easy. Let me be the first to tell you if you don’t know or have never done it, posing is hard. And it might sound crazy but if it doesn’t ache a little, you probably aren’t twisting or arching something enough. No seriously. For me, it’s my lower back from certain poses.
The goal is to look cute and muscular yet feminine. Don’t forget you must hit the right angles for your body and make sure you smile and show personality. It’s funny when you think about it but not at the same time.
I was petrified my first couple of shows. It changed for the 2017 NPC Stewart Fitness. Nervous? Yes. Petrified? No. I still wasn’t completely comfortable but moving in the right direction.
This go round I am working with a new posing coach. I wanted an additional person who has seen me help guide me as I continue to evolve in this sport. So, we’ve met a few times and I leave with homework each time.
I highly recommend working with a posing coach. It allows someone else to watch all of you because you don’t see all of the things happening with your body. The posing coach can help see angles you might not see. We have changed up my presentation as my body has changed. It’s helpful to have someone else look at your for the whole picture and the small details.

Have you seen the shoes? I have said it before and will say it again, I am a sneaker and flip flop kind of girl. The shoes I bought for this season are everything. They were recommended to me by a fellow competitor and I love them. They aren’t sneakers or flip flops but I can actually function in them.
There is always room for improvement so I will keep working on it. Let’s get ready for the big day.
