I am struggling with diet and for changes I want to see happen with my body during this competition prep. I’ve been on prep for about 9 weeks and it is mentally getting to me. I sent pics to my coach on Friday and the diet has changed for the week.
I’ve added dandelion pills as a supplement like I did last year. I ordered them online and picked them up at my local VitaminShoppe. Dandelion pills should help with water retention. I also recently bought Vasoburn to use during cardio with a waist trainer for cardio sessions. I want to get back on stage, but the goal is to do more than just get on stage to get on stage.
Pushing for more change
Change is happening. Not the change I would have hoped to see by now. So, it’s time to push for more.
Cardio is not crazy. I have 2 HIIT sessions and 3 steady sessions. What does that look like? I’m going to run because for HIIT sessions. I know when I am running I can see results. Or at least in my mind. Steady sessions will be on the bike, elliptical machine or stairmill.
On Saturday, I began watching Kill Command that I downloaded from Netflix. It’s not a movie that I would normally watch. However, I needed something to keep my mind off the grind.
Sunday was run day. A little 3 miles of fasted cardio was what the body called for to kick the day off. I returned to the sauna a little later in the day.
Struggling with Diet. No Carbs for the weekend
This week carbs are low. For me, that means 1/2 cup for Meal #1 and 1/4 cup for Meal #4.
This week my morning carbs are oatmeal and in the afternoon it’s rice mixed with a ground turkey dish that I am loving. What I love about this dish is that it stays moist, has texture from the different vegetables and a little kick from the red pepper flakes. I would have never come up with this idea if I hadn’t seen it on Bodybuilding.com.
It’s easy to make.
- Brown ground turkey in a skillet until a light crust forms on the bottom.
- Add in garlic and red pepper flakes when the turkey is slightly pink. Continue browning.
- Add in the tomatoes, onions and mushrooms. Add salt and pepper.
- Once the turkey is brown, add in chopped cilantro.
- Cover and reduce heat, letting everything simmer for about 5 minutes.
You do not have to have rice or any carbs to go with it. I have been eating it with vegetables. Nothing else until today. My Meal #4 will have rice.
I really can eat this for days. I actually have been eating this for days.
What is your favorite meal you can eat every day without getting sick of it?
