What’s one thing I wouldn’t wish on my worse enemy? Food poisoning. Why? It bites.
On December 11, I along with a host of other people got sick after eating a meal at a local Embassy Suites. It was a great day – I became initiated as a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. – where I celebrated with some very close friends.
By the time I got home things went downhill. I just thought I was coming down with something because I had been on the go for the past few weeks. Once the flood gates opened up, it didn’t stop for almost 12 hours. Nothing stayed in no matter how hard I tried. I expelled everything to the point of dry heaves and muscles cramping.
I am on the mend. Chicken noodle soup and tea are my friends at this point. There is something to be said about recovering from food poisoning in the midst of traveling. I’m slowly on the mend as I plan to hit the air to go to New Jersey to visit family.

Preparation for travel
Airline check-in. Check.
Clothes packed. Check.
Meals prepared. Not this time.
Typically I would have meal prepped to get me through my daily travel. I travel with my 6 Pack Fitness backpack filled with food and a few snacks in my luggage. Not this trip. The thought of food is not even appealing to me.
I’ve actually dropped 7 pounds in 72 hours. It’s not how I would like to drop it since a majority of it is water. I know it will come back as I begin to eat and drink again. But for the moment, my 6 pack bag is empty.
While in New Jersey
I love to travel. My trips to New Jersey will go up now that I have a niece to visit. They will probably increase as she gets older but as of right now every three months I will travel to New Jersey.
This trip is to have an early Christmas visit. Spoil her? Not so much but I will leave her with a few more things than she probably needs. I also am going to see the Lion King on Broadway.
I would normally be thinking about all the food and treats I would eat at home. I’m feeling a little gunshy at the moment. I can’t even imagine platanos, rice and beans or even chicken, which is most likely the culprit of the food poisoning on Sunday.
I have made it to Jersey. I have had very little to eat because I just can’t look at food the same. I had a half pack of oatmeal this morning. My stomach was not exactly happy. It did go in though.
I’m hoping for a speedy recovery.
