Did you set New Year’s resolutions or a yearly goals? What were they? Did you meet them?
My yearly goal
I did not meet one that I set midyear – 10 wide grip and narrow grip pull ups.
I am a little bummed about it. The pull up goal will move to the top of the 2017 list. I practiced them from time to time but not consistently enough. I can do more than one, which is where I started at the beginning of the year. The goal for 2017 will be the same. Stay tuned for updates.
2016 was good in so many ways
Pull ups didn’t go so well. On the other hand, I rocked so many other things this year.
I still can’t believe I stepped on stage three times as a competitive bikini bodybuilding athlete. It still amazes me when I think about it.
They year kicked off with the NPC Upstate Classic in June. I was so nervous and not comfortable in my skin at all. When it was over I knew I wanted to do more.
I followed it up with the NPC SC State Bodybuilding Show at the end of June. So much happened and changed in three weeks. I didn’t believe it was possible. This is the show that solidified that I want to be competitive in this sport and see how far I can go.
The year ended with the NPC Mid-Atlantic Classic in October. My transformation still amazes me as I look at the photo above. I did not meet my personal goal of Top 5 in the Open and Masters divisions but did improve my posing a little bit. I also felt a little more comfortable in my skin.
There is still more to work on as a competitive athlete. 2017 will be big. I want to qualify for a national show this year and feel confident in my posing.
I also spent more time with family this year.
My niece is so cute that I will be making more trips to New Jersey in 2017 than I have in a long time.
Then there are my crazy cousins. I wouldn’t trade them in for anyone or anything. For me, there’s something to be said about the bond you hold with those closest to you. I don’t get to see them as often as I would like but that doesn’t change our crazy relationship. It’s actually getting better as we get older.
I also became a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. It’s something that I have wanted for a long time. It wasn’t until this year that I was able to make it happen.
There were 18 of us that went through the process together. It is great to have a bond with these ladies that is different than others.
So much has happened this year. It’s actually kind of fun looking back through my photos and seeing all the moments that I captured. I’m looking forward to 2017.
What did your year look like? Did you meet your yearly goal?
